Why CSV import is paid — on purpose
Free unlimited import sounds generous until a team dumps a dirty sheet into a product they have never opened, then blames the CRM for bad due dates. InsuredBoard gates CSV to paid plans so the trial stays about the renewal habit: add real clients, attach policies, work overdue, send pre-filled WhatsApp from your phone. When that feels right, upgrade and bring the rest of the book.
That order saves weekends. Cleaning Excel is still on you — and it should be. Find duplicate phones, normalise dates, decide one row per policy. Then export CSV, map columns, import, and spot-check. The feature is a bridge, not a miracle.
There is no OCR path that reads folders of PDFs into perfect rows. If another vendor sells scan-first migration, evaluate error rates honestly. Structured CSV from the sheet you already maintain is the InsuredBoard path.
What a good insurance CSV looks like
Client name, phone, policy type, insurer label, premium, due date, optional notes. Avoid merged cells and free-text dates like "end of March." Keep one policy per row even when multiple policies share a client — the import should attach lines to people, not flatten everything into one overloaded cell.
After import, open the renewal board before you message anyone. If overdue looks absurd, fix dates first. WhatsApp from a wrong anniversary damages trust faster than staying on Excel another week.
What CSV import is not
- Not available on the free trial.
- Not OCR or Vahan enrichment.
- Not bulk WhatsApp Business API after upload.
- Not automatic commission ledger import from insurer PDFs.
After the migrate
Daily value is the board and the phone, not the import button. Install the PWA, work renewals, keep documents on clients, and use team seats if more than one agent touches the book. Narrative guide: Excel to insurance CRM.
Starter at ₹199/mo is the usual unlock for small books. Confirm policy caps and seats on pricing. Cost framing without #1 claims: cheapest insurance CRM India.
Commission and CSV
Do not expect a commission CSV from an insurer to become a live ledger inside InsuredBoard. Bring clients and policies. Estimate with the commission calculator. Reconcile payouts where they officially post.
Who should use this feature page
Agents with a master workbook ready to leave filters behind. Agencies consolidating conflicting copies. Anyone comparing CRMs who needs a clear answer to "is import free?" — here it is paid, and that is intentional. Start the trial, then schedule the paid CSV when the habit is real.
